In 2017 a group of 7 from Calgary went to Trinidad and Tobago. We flew first to Tobago. We spent 3 nights at the Blue Waters Inn, had a local guide who took us to several spots around the island.

On day 4 we transferred to the Asa Wright Centre on Trinidad. This lodge has a wonderful balcony with many feeders. As well many trails into the tropical forest.

We were taken to the east coast of Trinidad - stopping for lots of interesting places and sights along the way. Enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach.

To see the Oilbirds we had to have a guide on one of the trails from the main lodge. They nest very high up in very dark caverns, only visible when a light is shone on them.

On the last day we were taken to the Caroni Marsh. A boat trip through the mangroves took us to the iconic spot where the Scarlet Ibis come to roost. Several interesting sightings in the trees along the way.
